The purpose of this Paper is to provide the UK Drone Industry’s coordinated guidance to Government in the UK and beyond.
In the face of a rapidly expanding UAS industry in which larger and more complex systems will be needed to achieve meaningful the commercialisation, certification of the air platforms needed will need to deviate from that of manned aviation. To fail to achieve a safe but achievable means of compliance will mean the inability of the industry to make commercially viable systems.
The Drone Delivery Group represents an industry-backed initiative to bridge the gap between Government and industry. The Group was founded with the goal of establishing an open channel of communication between key stakeholders within the drone delivery industry (manufacturers, operators, and investors) and Government, standards bodies and regulatory organisations.

Our aim is to deliver industry backed guidance to the UK Government on the steps required to enable safe and secure rapid commercialization of the UK drone industry.
In the last few years, the UK Government has worked tirelessly to understand and develop strategies to enable what is widely understood as one of the most exciting emerging industries in modern history. The drone industry encompasses many elements which, when fully commercialized, will create significant benefits to UK Plc. While the drone industry spans all environments (surface, underwater, air & space), for the purposes of this paper, the term drone is used purely to represent air drones (UAS).
